Hugh Van Riper, Jr was born December 20, 1922, in Pennsylvania. The son of Hugh Van Riper, Sr and Helen R. Meese.
His enlistment in the Army was for the duration of War World II or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law, on December 29, 1942.
On September 10, 1944 it was listed in the paper that he was wound in action.
On May 1948, the body was finally returned home to be buried in Uniontown, Pennslyvania at the Redstone Cemetery.
